ECHO
A sci-fi platformer for the browser, where every dash is a decision.
From the presentation film, captured in the game (its corner notes are in French)
A pixel-art platformer built in Unity 6 for the browser (WebGL, packaged for GamePix). One idea runs through all of it: the dash — the heroine’s best move — crosses gaps, breaks barriers and destroys machines, but costs one of only three energy charges, and every level ends at a door only a dash can break. Three levels, a three-phase boss, and a rescue at the end.
What I built
- 01
The dash economy: three charges, energy cells to refill them, barriers and machines only a dash can break, and core locks that open only if you keep enough charges — spend or save, every time.
- 02
Forgiving controls tuned as data: 0.10 s of coyote time, a 0.12 s jump buffer, a variable jump, and a dash of exactly 4.5 units in 0.15 s, counted in physics steps so it is the same at any frame rate.
- 03
The Guardian, a three-phase boss you can only hit by dashing into its open core; a death restarts the phase, never the whole fight.
- 04
Made for the browser: keyboard, gamepad or on-screen touch buttons; the GamePix plugin pauses time and sound when the tab is hidden, and progress is saved in the browser.
